Summer in the Hamptons

I’ve only ever been to the Hamptons in the spring. East Hampton was more or less deserted. Even on a Sunday afternoon, I was alone on the streets. The galleries were open, but I was always the only visitor. It was surreal.

When I was back in the studio a few weeks later and made this slit scan piece, I immediately thought – this is what summer in the Hamptons must feel like.

To me, it feels like warm, soft light over a salty breeze – still, vast and light, as if time were holding its breath for a moment.
