And so it is

Bild aus der Serie ‚Space over Time‘ von Steffen Freiling – slit-scan-basierte Fotografie, die Raum und Zeit visuell verschiebt und gewohnte Wahrnehmung herausfordert.

This work was created in a slit-scan session using unusual materials: soft architectural modeling clay and barbed wire. But – as has been said elsewhere – what was on the turntable is ultimately secondary; what matters is the result.

At the initial presentation, I deliberately refrained from any explanation of the original object. Instead, I asked the visitors to tell me what they saw. The responses were so varied and beautiful that I decided to keep the mystery of the “object on the turntable” – and from then on, to let people tell me what they discovered.
