2 What is a fine art print?

A fine art print is the most valuable form of artistic photo printing. It is printed with pigment-based inks on archive-proof cotton or artist paper. The result:

  • Maximum picture smoothness and depth – rich blacks, fine color gradations
  • Durability – materials with high resistance
  • Gallery haptics – the paper is part of the artwork

In short: fine art prints are not posters, but permanent art objects.

3. Which fine art papers are used?

Only renowned museum papers are used. Each paper has its own character and is curated to match the motif.

  • Open from the front – perfect in seconds: The magnetic system allows opening from the front. Insert picture, close, done.
  • Safe & durable: Flat, stable fit; the change remains precise even after years.
  • Design according to motif & room: aluminum (minimalist, light) or solid wood – e.g. black oak, white oak, natural alder.
  • Individually configurable: standard or custom sizes; glass and passe-partout to match the motif.

4a. Oak frame (black & white)

Timeless, clear and with a fine wood texture. The surface has a matt finish – either black oak for a striking, gallery-like appearance or white oak for a light, understated look.

  • Character: Solid oak wood, precise mitering, open-pored feel.
  • Effect: – Black: sets clear contrasts and emphasizes graphic image effects. – White: looks light, modern and makes the motif “float”.
  • Suitable for: Black and white series, minimalist works as well as light interiors, pastel shades and airy color worlds (white).
  • Convenience: Front framing with HALBE magnet system – fast, flat and a perfect fit.
  • Protection: Anti-reflective and UV-protective ArtGlass 92; acid-free inserts and passe-partouts.
  • Formats: Standard sizes and special sizes – configured exactly to the motif on request.

4b. Alder frame (nature)

Warm, calm and natural – natural alder emphasizes the effect of the picture without pushing itself into the foreground. The soft, honey-colored tone harmonizes perfectly with organic motifs and atmospheric series.

  • Character: Domestic wood with a fine, even grain; satin finish.
  • Effect: Gives warmth and depth without dominating the motif – ideal for a homely gallery feel.
  • Suitable for: Landscapes, nature and city views, portraits and interiors with wood or natural accents.
  • Convenience: Front framing with HALBE magnet system – clean, safe, reusable.
  • Protection: Anti-reflective and UV-protective ArtGlass 92; acid-free inserts and passe-partouts.
  • Formats: From standard to made-to-measure – precisely tailored to the image and room.

4c. Aluminum frame

Slim, light and extremely dimensionally stable – the aluminum frame stands for a reduced, modern presentation in which the motif is shown to its best advantage. The anodized surface is durable and timeless, ideal for clean, contemporary interiors.

  • Character: Anodized aluminium with precise mitres; silky matt, robust surface.
  • Effect: Reduced & clear – focuses on the image and emphasizes cool colour worlds, black and white and graphic structures.
  • Suitable for: Architecture, urban & abstract works, minimalist and modern spaces.
  • Convenience: Front framing with HALBE magnet system – perfect fit, quick picture change.
  • Protection: Anti-reflective and UV-protective ArtGlass 92; acid-free inserts and passe-partouts.
  • Formats: Standard sizes and precise custom sizes; also ideal for large formats thanks to its low weight.

4d. The glass used

Wir verwenden ausschliesslich hochwertiges, entspiegeltes Museumsglas mit UV-Schutz für die gerahmten Werke

  • For a truly unadulterated view of the image with UV protection
  • Best color reproduction, contour sharpness and contrasts
  • Barely perceptible in indirect lighting thanks to anti-reflective coating
  • Artglass from Groglass

4e. The passe-partouts used

We only use certified passe-partout cardboard in museum quality from KLUG Conservation. These are resistant to ageing, acid-free, free from woody fibers and highly light-resistant. They actively protect the artwork and ensure a high-quality look.

  • Thickness: 3.0 mm
  • Cardboard color: off-white. Old white is a very neutral and slightly muted shade of white that goes well with fine art papers.
  • Cut-out: All passe-partouts are cut to the optical center.
  • Cut: diagonal cut. A passe-partout with a bevel cut makes the motif appear more three-dimensional. In combination with a frame, it also ensures that the glass does not rest directly on the print. The bevel-cut inner edges create visual depth and prevent distracting shadows on the picture. A material thickness of 3 mm further enhances this effect.

On request, you can receive your work as a print or framed and ready to hang.

5. Edition & authenticity - frequently asked questions

5a. How is the edition regulated?

5b. When will production start?

Your work is made to order – freshly printed and checked.

5c. Why a limited edition?
